AILIV / Sanskriti runs and supports various sports activities under its umbrella of Sports Committee. Interested individuals (who need to be AILIV active members) are invited to join the subcommittee to further the cause of promoting sports to next generation of Asian Indian community of Livingston and surrounding townships.

Many of us over the years have felt one missing piece in our lives in the US over number of years, and that is Cricket. ACC was setup to fill-in that gap and in return it expects you to have fun and get some exercise! During our inaugural 2010 season, many of us played cricket for the first time in years. And if that experience is of any indication you are in for a very pleasant surprise of how quickly you can get back in the game if you plan to join the team this season. In words of Sunil Gavasker, your first shot may not be a “Cricketing shot" but the cricketer inside you will not wait for too long to come out, you may start playing Cricketing shots by the end of that first over!!
So Here is your chance to join the party … get on to the field on Sunday mornings this Spring, Summer and Early Fall to play Cricket!!

About AILIV Cricket Club (ACC) and its maiden year in existence
With efforts from couple of us Working Committee members and a group of dedicated Members, AILIV founded the Cricket Club last year to serve our community at large in and around Livingston. We played every weekend during the 2010 season and constantly looked to improve our game. In the process we played the fun version of Cricket eg on Father’s day we had more than 30 Kids and Fathers on the field, as well as competitive Cricket by taking part in a tournament in South Jersey and reaching the Semi-Finals stage (refer to the AILIV Cricket Club in News attachment for pics and details). We plan to further our game using the tremendous experience we gathered from these events.
For the cricket season of 2011, AILIV Cricket Club has worked with Livingston Township's Sports and Recreation committee and secured a playing facility for the season which is at 25 Byron Place in Livingston behind the Burnet Hill Elementary School!!
Requirements for becoming a club member
It is very simple to become AILIV Cricket Club member, you will need to be:
1. Active member of AILIV (any form of AILIV membership is accepted). If you are not an AILIV member yet or have not renewed your membership, you can become-member/renew-membership online at: http://www.ailiv.net/membership.php
2. Download and fill out the cricket membersip form.
Membership to Cricket Club is FREE for all AILIV members. There is a nominal charge per session for all non-AILIV members, however you do need to sign the Sportsmenship pledge for playing with AILIV Cricket club, which is included in the membership form.
Our version of Cricket
We play with a hard tennis ball, which in our experience is very effective on plain ground surfaces as well as on concrete pitches. On a regular basis we lay out AILIV Cricket Club's very own cricket matting pitch and use regular professional size Bats and official size Stumps to capture the most authentic flavors of the game. We believe in active cricket, in other words be prepared to do some running or getting a run-out of your own! We play Cricket every Sunday for 2-3 hours starting at 9 am for the entire season - from April to October. Last year few club-volunteers bought gear and provided to ACC members to play. If you so wish you can bring in your own. We have already added complete sets of new gear for the 2011 season and expect to add more through the season. So whether you have your own Bat or not, just come on down to play!

AILIV Table Tennis (Ping Pong)
AILIV has arranged Table Tennis practices every Monday since beginning of 2010. This schedule is followed very precisely to ensure you can plan your activities around it and make room for some serious playing and exercising on Monday nights. We play using a tournament size Ping Pong table and provide rackets and balls. So no worries if you do not have your own racket, just come on down to play!!
