Garba Raas Night 2009
On Friday September 18th, AILIV hosted a hugely successful Garba and Dandia Raas night at the Livingston YMCA with live music by Sur Madhur, a group from Pennsylvania. The
event was completely sold out. There were over 300 participants scattered over the
course of the event. Food was supplied by Garam Masala from Parsippany. We started the dance around 8:30 pm and finished
at 1 am.
We were joined in our celebrations by some Livingston town representatives including Rudy Fernandez and Arlene Johnson (Deputy Mayor). We raffled some very exciting door prizes and multiple surprise raffles! The top prize of a full year's membership to the YMCA went to the Desai family of Burnett Hill Road in Livingston.
